In late 2023, I had the privilege of spearheading the web design overhaul for The Kilimanjaro Project in Tanzania. After being offline for an extended period, the organization was in dire need of a digital uplift to showcase their vital work. Collaborating closely with CEO and founder Sarah Scott, we embarked on a journey to revamp their online presence, starting with a captivating hero image featuring the majestic Kilimanjaro mountain. This imagery served as a powerful symbol of the organization’s mission and aspirations.
The newly redesigned website not only breathed fresh life into The Kilimanjaro Project but also helped shine a spotlight on the remarkable reforestation efforts they were undertaking. Through intuitive navigation, engaging visuals, and compelling storytelling, we aimed to inspire visitors to learn more about the organization’s initiatives and get involved in their conservation efforts. Just a month later, The Kilimanjaro Project received the prestigious Africa Forest Carbon Catalyst (AFCC) award, a testament to their impactful work in environmental conservation.
This website was not just a standalone project but a pivotal component of a comprehensive two-year communications strategy that I was commissioned to develop in September 2023. By leveraging digital platforms and strategic storytelling, we sought to amplify The Kilimanjaro Project’s message, engage stakeholders, and drive meaningful action towards a sustainable future. As a designer and communicator, it was immensely rewarding to contribute to such a worthy cause and witness the positive impact of our collective efforts.
